Our Commitment to Privacy
reClip is developed by Pliakin Serhii. We believe your clipboard data is personal and should stay on your device. This policy explains how reClip handles your data.
Data Collection
What We Don't Collect
- Your clipboard content
- Personal information
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Device identifiers
- Location data
- Any data sent to our servers or third parties
What Stays on Your Mac
All clipboard history data is stored locally on your Mac in a secure, sandboxed container. If you enable iCloud sync, your data is also stored in your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. This data is not accessible to us or any third party.
Data Storage
reClip stores your clipboard history in a local database on your Mac. This includes:
- Copied text, images, files, and other clipboard content types
- Timestamps of when items were copied
- Group and collection organization
- Your preferences and settings
You can delete your clipboard history at any time through the app. When you uninstall reClip, all stored data is removed from your Mac.
Data Retention
Clipboard history is retained locally on your device until you manually delete it or uninstall the app. There is no automatic expiration of clipboard items unless you configure a limit in the app settings.
App Sandbox
reClip runs inside Apple's App Sandbox with minimal permissions. No account is required — just install and start clipping. You can manually delete any clip from your history at any time.
iCloud Sync
reClip uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your clipboard history across your devices via your private iCloud account. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple and is only accessible to you through your Apple ID. We never have access to your iCloud data. iCloud sync is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Third-Party Services
reClip does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only network communication is with Apple's iCloud/CloudKit service for sync and the App Store for purchases.
App Store
reClip will be distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple may collect certain information as part of the App Store purchase and download process. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy and is separate from reClip's data practices.
Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights. Since reClip stores all data locally on your device and we do not collect any personal information, you have full control over your data:
- Right to access: All your data is stored locally and accessible through the app
- Right to deletion: You can delete your clipboard history at any time through the app settings
- Right to portability: Your data is stored on your device and can be accessed directly
- Right to rectification: You can edit or delete any clipboard item through the app
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- We do not sell your personal information
- We do not collect personal information beyond what is stored locally on your device
- You have full control to delete your data at any time through the app
Since reClip does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers, the typical CCPA disclosure requirements do not apply.
Children's Privacy
reClip is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since all data is stored locally on your device and we have no access to it, we have no way to identify or remove children's data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users through the app or our website. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
